Others in the Community

Academy for Career Exploration works with partners throughout the community toward enhancing the educational experiences of our students.

Working with Dean of Students Michael Shepard, a talented Providence College intern helps us manage our Community Service Program. The program provides an opportunity for students to “give something back” to their community and introduces them to the issues and challenges facing our communities.

Ninth graders are required to perform a minimum of 50 hours of community service, while tenth graders must complete, at a minimum, enough additional hours of community service to bring their two-year total to 100 hours.

Program coordinators work with the participating community-based organizations to ensure that the community service hours provided by ACE students support the missions of the organizations where the students are placed, while at the same time provide students with a positive work experience.

If your organization would like to become a participant in ACE’s Community Service Program, please contact Michael Shepard at 401-456-1738, ext. 2.

In their junior and senior years, we encourage our students to participate in after school work opportunities at area employers. These opportunities give students insights as to the challenges of the workplace and provide glimpses of various career paths they might follow beyond graduation.

If your company is interested in partnering with us to enhance our student employment program, please contact Al Speaks at 401-456-2738, ext. 4.

The success of our Health & Sciences and Hospitality & Business school to career pathways programs is dependent upon numerous partnerships that have been developed with industry and community partners from around our state. Organizations that support us include Lifespan, Women & Infants Hospital, Johnson & Wales University and the Hospitality Association of Rhode Island.
