ACE Alumni Graduates Update….Where Are They Now?
There are over 600 ACE graduates. In every issue we will profile one of our graduates. Meet Sophie Eugene, a member of the Class of 2003.
Sophie Eugene has always set high goals for herself. Even though her older siblings had all gone to Mt. Pleasant High, she thought that ACE would provide her with a better learning opportunity. It proved to be the right decision, as Sophie noted in a recent interview. “The teachers and the staff at ACE understood and supported my desire to be better,” said Sophie. “They embraced and encouraged me to be independent and to take responsibility for my own education.”
Sophie enjoyed her four years at ACE, graduating #1 in her class. She felt that she was well prepared for college and enrolled in the University of Rhode Island. In 2007, Sophie was awarded a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and was further honored by being chosen to be the graduation speaker at the College of Nursing. Sophie is currently employed as a graduate nurse at Hasbro Children’s Hospital and is preparing to take her nursing boards.
This ambitious young woman isn’t done yet. Her goal is to continue her education and ultimately earn a Masters degree in Public Health & Education. “I always want to be, and do, more,” says Sophie. She credits her family, and particularly her mother, as her inspiration and also cites everyone at ACE for “setting a good example”.
Congratulations to Sophie Eugene for all of her accomplishments.
