Assist at the School
What’s your passion? What’s your special talent? What can you do on a recurring basis to make a personal contribution to the work of Academy for Career Exploration?
Here is a list of some of the things you might consider:
Tutoring - We are committed to providing our students with the tools and resources they need to attain academic excellence. Sometimes, this necessitates providing extra help to students who need more emphasis in particular subjects. Right now we are in need of people who are capable of tutoring in the areas of math, science, reading and writing. If you are a college student, retired teacher, or professionally equipped to provide instruction in any of these subjects and want to help one of our students to succeed, please call Dean of Students, Michael Shepard at 401-456-1738, ext. 2 to learn more about how you can help.
Fundraising - As a public school within the Providence School District, ACE receives its baseline funding from the Providence School Department. But in order to provide the additional programs that help our students thrive and succeed, e.g. our Brother-2-Brother and Sister-4-Sister after school programs, the Ninth Grade Summer School & Immersion Program and our recently launched school-to-career Health & Science and Hospitality & Business Pathways curriculum, we need the financial support of concerned and engaged individuals, foundations and the business community. If you are available to help prepare mailings, are willing to make telephone solicitations on behalf of the school or can help with the preparation of donor correspondence, please call Vanessa Toledo-Vickers, Development Director, at 401-456-1738, ext 106 for more information.
Group Projects – If your organization or company typically volunteers for group projects, ACE can provide both a rewarding and meaningful activity for your group. If you are into physical work, you may help us with minor renovations and clean-up projects. If your wish is to interact with students, you may consider hosting an open house at your company so students may learn about your business and career paths available to them in your industry. If your company can provide qualified people to serve as tutors or mentors on a recurring, regularly scheduled basis, there are numerous opportunities to assist students with their academics and career path planning.
For additional information about all of these opportunities, please call our Development Director, Vanessa Toledo-Vickers at 401-456-1738, ext 106.
Please note: Please Note: Volunteer positions that interact with students require the completion of a background check.
